Steps for setting up Microsoft Multi-factor Authentication for your TMU Account

Follow the steps below to set up your Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication for your @torontomu.ca account. The Creative School uses this login method for many WordPress sites, Adobe Creative Cloud and Office 365. A video demonstration is below.

  1. Install Microsoft Authenticator or another authenticator app on your mobile device. Note: this is not the same as Google Authenticator
  2. Activate MFA from your my.torontomu.ca page:
    • Go to my.torontomu.ca and click Personal Account
    • Navigate to the Security section and click on Microsoft Multi-factor Authentication
    • Look for the section that says Microsoft MFA for @torontomu.ca email address and click the Set up Microsoft MFA button below.
    • Click on “set up multi factor authentication“.
  3. You’ll be brought to a Microsoft login page and enter your @torontomu.ca email address and password and click Sign In.
  4. Next, you’ll see a window saying “More information required“, click Next.
  5. Now you’ll choose whether to use the Microsoft Authenticator or another app to generate your code.
    • If you want to use the Microsoft Authenticator click Next.
    • If you’d like to use a different app click, “I want to use a different authenticator app“.
  6. Using your chosen app, create a new app and then click Next on the window on the computer screen.
  7. Using your app, scan the QR code seen on the screen and once complete, click Next.
  8. Now, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app on the computer screen and click Next.
  9. Once this is complete you should see the Success message and you can click Done.
